Frequently Asked Questions
|
|
How good are digital prints?
|
When you user the term digital print it can mean a variety of things
to different people. It can be a £15,000 industrial system to a £50
desktop printer. The main benefit in digital processing and printing
is the control that the artist has in producing the final product as
they have visualised it. I many respects the control over the make and
qualities of the inks used can achieve a greater tonal range than can
be achieved in a wet darkroom.
Although my final prints are produced digitally the original image is
just as likely to have been taken on film and then scanned at a high
resolution as captured directly by a digital camera. The whole process
is dictated by achieving a fine art print.
When printing I always use quality archival paper with a variety of
inks depending on the image results I am looking to achieve

What is the lifespan of a digital print?
|
|
This is a question often asked and unfortunately there is no definitive
answer. The archival paper and inks that I use have a lifespan equal
or in excess of many traditional colour printing. As with normal
prints the longevity of digital prints is greatly increased when
displayed indoors behind glass and out of direct sunlight.
Given these optimal conditions a digital print on archival paper
should show no signs of degradation after 75-100 years

Where is the image I saw on the site last week?
|
|
This site is very dynamic and as the artist creates new images the
images featured in the galleries will change. All photographs
previously shown on the site can be found in the catalogue section.

What are limited edition prints?
|
A limited edition is an undertaking that the print you are buying
will only be produced a specific number of times in the specified
size and format. These reproduction limits can be a print run of
15, 50 or 100 and the price will depend on the size of the print run.
All limited edition prints are personally signed and numbered on
the reverse by the artist and include a certificate of authenticity.
Prints not sold as limited editions will have no restrictions on
the number sold.

|
How are your prints framed?
|
We do not sell prints framed.
What we do is to matt the prints with museum quality mounting board.
Although the frame needed for a print is greatly influenced by
the print itself, the best frame for a print is also determined by
the location in which it will be hung and personal preference.
The matts are individually machine cut to size for that print and
where possible we attempt to match the external dimensions of the
matt to widely available standard frame sizes.
Prints are also available without any mountings.

|
What is your returns policy?
|
|
Each print we sell whether limited edition or not comes with a
7 day returns policy. This is dependent on the print being
returned in its original condition.
Damage during postage is not covered by this policy unless you
opted for postal insurance at the time of purchase.

Can I order prints online?
|
We do sell some of our smaller prints directly on the internet.
However for the larger sizes we encourage direct contact to ensure
that the size and matting options are what is required.
Prints range from 10"x8" (25x20) to 30"x20" (75x50).
The contacts page will give you information on how to finalize the
sale.
